Monster

Yes, yes, you all told me so!  I knew it would happen too.  But it's just SO HARD not to do.  We let Miles sleep in our bed yesterday morning because he was up from 5:30 to 8 AM and I was just so exhausted that my only option was to sleep in with him in our bed or DIE.  And I'm not even exaggerating.  Not even a little.  It's just that Miles has thrush. Which has not been bad for him at all, but for me it's been just awful!  I either have thrush or mastitis in my boobs and either way it has totally knocked me on my butt.  My boobs are killing me and I'm just exhausted and achy and miserable.  So when I say it was either let him sleep with us or DIE, I'm just not exaggerating.  So I cuddled with him all morning yesterday and it was so nice!

But of course I knew I was creating a monster.  Last night I put him in his crib for bed and he was so tired that he fell asleep in minutes, which hardly ever happens.  But then he was up crying within 10 minutes.  So I comforted him and rocked him to sleep again and layed him down.  But again he was up crying in 5 minutes.  We did this two more times.  And each time he was deeply asleep but woke up just a few minutes later so upset.

So I did what any exhausted sick, parent does.  I put him in bed with us and finally got some sleep.  And it was GLORIOUS!!  Miles slept for 8 straight hours in bed with us!  He just sleeps so well when we're right there with him.  If he starts stirring I can just put my hand on him and he's fast asleep again within seconds.  I woke up to feed him at 7:30 this morning and he was out again from 8 - 11 AM and I FINALLY got to catch up on some much needed sleep.  (I did, however, wake up with a sore throat and now both Miles and I are coughing so I'm praying that we haven't caught something else.)

But now my dilemma is - do I let him sleep with us so that we can sleep through the night so peacefully and like one big happy family?  Or do I nip this in the bud and put him in his crib - knowing that I'll be up at least twice per night??

Look at that happy face!!  I think Miles already knows the answer!

  1. Just my opinion, but establish an official policy of not letting him sleep in the bed, and then go right ahead and break your own rules whenever you need to! Violet sleeps in our room/bed whenever she has a cold or just isn't breathing well because of congestion or a stuffy nose.

Just know that he's going to get a lot bigger/heavier/take up much more room/possibly start kicking you in his sleep!
