Family

I don't talk about how hard it is to have Miles growing up so far away from all my family very often -- because if I do I'll spend the rest of the day bawling. Tony's parents are awesome and I'm so grateful for all they do and how much they love Miles. And thank goodness they are here. But sometimes a girl just needs her own mom and dad. Also, it doesn't help that they are such AWESOME grandparents! Seriously - they've had lots of practice and they LOVE their grandkids!

We don't get to see them as often as we'd like - but we are planning a trip soon (hopefully). In the mean time - we have this blog and Skype.

We Skyped last night and it was SO much fun. Bittersweet, because I want Miles to hug and kiss on Nana and Papa and his Aunties, but at least they can watch him being cute.

And he was being extra cute last night! For some reason he got the idea to pull my face in and give me a kiss. Of course, when he did this for the camera - Nana, Papa and Auntie RoRo clapped and cheered... and that set the precedent for the whole call. All he wanted to do was impress everyone by giving me kiss after kiss after kiss. He was a smooching machine! And he had everyone clapping and cheering for 30 minutes.

I was in baby-cuddle-smoochie-heaven! :)

I can't wait for Miles to give his Nana and Papa kisses too!!!

We love you guys! Mom, hope you got that email with the link in it! :)

Randoms

I know y'all are waiting on pins and needles (ha, is anyone even reading this? Mom, have you lost the link?) to hear the 'pool story' so cleverly referenced in my Instagrid Post. Honestly I thought it'd be resolved completely by now, but since it's not I don't want to go into specifics. I think they are trying to hold me off until the end of summer. Nice.

It's not stopping us from enjoying the pool though!! We had dinner up there a few nights ago and Miles and daddy had so much fun swimming. Then my sweet cuddlebugs wanted hugs while he was dripping wet and I was completely dry. Good thing he's so cute!

These are from yesterday morning eating a banana (or bernerner, if you will). His face was cracking me up! And his outfit was too cute for words!! Thanks Lyndsay for all the hand-me-downs! We LOVE them!

Seriously, I couldn't get enough of his cute outfit, his adorable face, and that messy hair!! :)

We are so blessed with this little cutie!

Camping

I feel like I'm playing Russian Roulette with all these mosquito bites.... but the bite that's currently driving me insane is the ant bite on my pinky toe. It's swollen and hard and itching like crazy. Ugh. Really makes me hate nature.

On the other hand, I've been editing photos (on my iPhone - photographers everywhere just cried/died a little) for this post and remembering all the fun and beauty from while camping and that helps the hatred subside a little. Maybe once the itching stops I'll be ready for another camping trip.

Because we had so much fun! I used to go camping with my family in the mountains of Colorado all the time, but camping in TX is so very different. In the summer you MUST have a cabin or air-conditioning of some kind. We had a cabin. It wasn't anything fancy at all, but it was cool and nice. Also, it had a stove and fridge and dock right on a small lake and - okay, yes we are spoiled city-folk campers. And I'm not afraid to say it - I prefer camping the spoiled way.

Since we were all in one big room sleeping almost on top of each other, when Miles woke up at the butt-crack of dawn each morning the 4 of us (including Rocky) headed out early to explore the campground. Which was SO nice! The weather was perfect and it was really nice family time for us.

On our trip we met a colt wandering around looking adorable. He was so friendly. I named him Spartacus. Tony wouldn't let me bring him home.

There was a cute little playground area that Miles had a blast playing on! He is fearless on these things!

Saturday it decided to torrential downpour on us, but from the patio the rain was absolutely gorgeous! The power went out in the cabin so we watched a movie on the iPad on the patio, drank beer and watched Miles open and close the patio door a million times!

This little guy is Spencer... he took refuge with us on the patio from the rain and then decide to stay and join the party! I wouldn't be surprised to find him in the suitcase I have yet to unpack.

Well, technicaly I'd be very surprised by him, just not surprised that he followed me home...

Thankfully the power was back on within two hours - plenty of time for us to cook up some dinner and get ready for a s'mores fire!

On a related note - I didn't know I could unhinge my jaw that wide until this picture!

Sunday we spent most of at the 'beach' and it was so much fun. Even if I did have to swim with fish touching me (something I was none-to-happy with at first). They had a super fun water slide and two jump/diving platforms. The high jump didn't look too bad until... until you were up there ready to jump and then looked down and saw your entire life flash before your eyes. Nothing motives one like an entire lake full of people (including a 21 month old little girl in floaties) yelling at you to "jump already, you can do it"!!

I eventually did jump. Twice actually. And it was exhilarating and horrifying all at the same time!

Joe and Raquel didn't join us in the water - so this shot is sans 2 of our party, but what a fun party it was!

And this last picture are two random pretty ones I just wanted to add.

Who's in for the next camping trip?!

Mornings

I now live with 2 morning people... and I am NOT a morning person.

But how could you not smile when you have this sweet face to greet you in the mornings.

I mean even when I'm blinding him with the flash at 6 AM he's still so smily/giggly. It's better than coffee! Don't get me wrong - I still need my coffee - this is just a nice addition! :)

I Got Crabs

It was my mother-in-law's birthday on Tuesday and Tony's birthday is on Sunday - so we decided to celebrate in style. Lobster Style! Except I got crabs!! And they were delicious.

How awesome do we all look in these awesome bibs that are awesome?!

Grace's favorite food is lobster and Joe's Crab Shack is just as fun/messy (:)) as I remember it. My favorite part of the evening, though, was when Grace kept asking us if we wanted to try her lobster - offering the claws or for us to suck the head (haha) and Nick could hardly keep his food down. HA! Poor Nick!

Nick was not as amused as I was... :)

Miles, however, refused to eat any of the fish we gave him. In fact, I'm pretty sure all he ate was the marinara sauce off of a cheese stick, some tarter sauce off of a french fry and this lemon.

At least he looked cute while eating it!

We all had the best family time celebrating one awesome Grandma and her Son! Seriously, I couldn't be any happier with the family I got when marrying Tony! Happy Birthday Grace... can't wait for lobster next year! :)

Instagrid Party

Lately I've been looking for new blogs to read.  I'm in desperate need of inspiration!  One of my new favorites happens to be a neighbor/teacher/photographer who is currently living in our other friend's loft (renting).  What a small, fun, world!  Her blog Just-Breath, Stacy is fun and full of beautiful pictures.  It's reminding me of what life was like before having to fight with our HOA to let our child swim in the rooftop pool (that's a fun story for later... when all the anger  rage has subsided).

Stacy just got engaged and you must go read her love story because it's about the most amazing love story you will ever hear - and when it gets made into a movie you will be able to say that you read about it back-when!  And trust me, it SHOULD be made into a movie.

Anyway - Stacy does this super fun link up that I've been stalking for a while and am finally going to take the plunge!  I've never done a link up before... hope I can figure out what I'm doing!  :)

                                           Instagrid Party

1. Miles turned 2 and had a fun, easygoing birthday party!  He got a skateboard and loves it so much he wants to sleep with it!
2. Bev and Tony at a work happy hour!  BB (before baby) we used to go to happy hour once a week (at least).  We still try to go as much as possible.  This is them saying hi to our other friends who used to join us but are now too busy lame... :)  just kidding, but seriously - come out!
3. This is what Miles gets to do when he spends his mornings with Lyndsay and her boys.  Can you say - luckiest boy in the world?!
4. Tony and Miles at the park on a leisurely Sunday morning.
5. Isn't that turd cute?  Why he's plugging his ears, I have no clue.... but it cracks me up!
6. This picture I stole from Rhonda Williams - who took it at a friend's Morrocan Pool party over the weekend.  We didn't even see her take this picture, but I absolutely adore it!
7. Miles playing a dangerous game with his daddy.  That's how he lives - on the wild side!
8. The sunrise this morning was amazing... sadly pictures never do it justice.  But I love the reflection of this one in the car hood!
9. I have been desperate for a healthier/good breakfast lately - so I found some ideas on Pinterest and put this together last night for Tony and me.  It was so delish!  Tomorrow is oatmeal and blueberries!  Can't wait!!

Share your own Instagrid and link up with Anna's blog below!

Did I do that right?  lol

Need a Laugh

Currently we are watching World's Wildest Police Videos and wondering if it ever gets old to see criminals get tasered. 'Cause I kinda can't stop laughing...

Know what else never get's old...

Sadly... Miles does not think we are as funny as we like to think we are...

"La la la, I can't hear you"

He still makes us laugh though...

Birthday Boy and His Skateboard

I never celebrated my birthday growing up (religious reasons) so I'm not much of a stickler for birthday traditions and making a big hoopla out of them. (Does anyone even say hoopla anymore? Let's bring it back!) For Miles' first bday I wanted to do something fun and special, so we had a party for friends and family! I felt like 1 was a big accomplishment! But for 2.... ??? I don't know, I just wasn't excited about throwing a huge party and all the work that entails. I didn't want to spend money on a party that he won't even care about or remember.

Or, maybe I'm just lazy.

Either way... we decided on a simple family dinner with presents. We had the kids and Tony's parents and grandparents came. Lyndsay and Brandon and their boys came too... Miles is growing up with them now, so they are my honorary TX family! And it was PERFECT! The kids played, wore party hats, sang Happy Birthday. Miles opened several small presents and he was thrilled!

He loves all his new toys, and goes back and forth between his new Little People's airplane (SO fun) and his Boat bath toy (we took it in the bath finally last night and he played in there forever!). But the clear winner of the presents is his new skateboard his daddy bought him! There's a Backyardigains episode called the Magic Skateboard where Tyrone is learning to ride and falls off his board a lot. So Miles loves to put one foot on the board and then fall on his bottom and laugh. It's probably the cutest thing ever in the history of the world!

But besides pretending to fall, Miles is really impressing us with his riding skills! He's been going back and forth behind the couch with one hand on the couch to stabilize him while he pushes himself all around. Last night Tony was trying to teach him some basics. It was precious!

He loves his skateboard so much he tried to bring it to bed with him on his birthday and cried so hard when I had to take it away...

Just note, if you come over to our place any time soon - watch out for your ankles! :)
